The short version
Where this tool fits
A research dashboard for comparing definitions and trends across protocols and networks. Dashboard size and growth are not safety scores. Definitions and coverage can change.
A good fit if…
A fit when you want to investigate metrics such as TVL, fees or revenue and retain their context.

What the documentation establishes
DeFiLlama publishes dashboards organised around chains, protocols and categories, including TVL, fees, revenue and stablecoin data. These are different measurements with different scopes. A high position in a table is not a security assessment or a forecast of investment returns.
Where it fits into your routine
Choose one research question, such as whether two dashboards count the same activity. Record the metric name, period, currency and category filters before copying a value into your notes. Read the relevant methodology and inspect whether a change could reflect prices, coverage or accounting rather than new users. A screenshot without those details will be difficult to interpret later.
The decision before you commit
The useful habit is to compare like with like and preserve the definition beside the number. Do not combine protocol fees with token-holder revenue merely because both are displayed in currency. If a result matters to a decision, seek the underlying explanation and another appropriate source. Use the site to develop questions, not to turn a ranked table into a list of assets to buy.
Before choosing
Record the metric definition, date range, filters and source URL, then check the methodology for exclusions and double counting.
Dashboard size and growth are not safety scores. Definitions and coverage can change.

Strengths
- Several metric families
- Chain and protocol context
- Useful research starting points
Limitations
- Methodology needs reading
- Rankings do not establish investment suitability
